The Townsend Fellowships program supports the research of graduate students at UC Berkeley. Fellows meet in weekly discussions together with tenured faculty, a Librarian Fellow, a Museum Fellow, and several Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows. These discussions allow for interdisciplinary peer review of work in progress in an informal setting.
Eligibility: Townsend Dissertation Fellowships are awarded to graduate students writing PhD dissertations whose research projects significantly involve humanistic material or problems that have a significant bearing on humanities. The competition is open to graduate students who are advanced to candidacy, or who will be advanced to candidacy by June 2012.
Award: $18,000 stipend.
Application Deadline: November 13, 2012
