The following two programs (to commence in the 2012–2013 academic year) enable talented Israeli students to conduct doctoral work at U.C. Berkeley, and provide encouragement and support for advanced Israeli doctoral students already on the Berkeley campus.
The Helen Diller Family Scholarship in Contemporary Israeli Society
This program supports graduate students from Israeli universities. Nominations will be solicited from related departments and professional schools of incoming graduate students from Israel who have been accepted into Ph.D. programs in the humanities, social sciences or professional schools. Individuals may not apply. The scholarship will be offered to cover tuition, fees and a stipend for the recipient’s first year at U.C. Berkeley. The student’s department will commit support for future years.
The Helen Diller Family Dissertation Fellowship for Continuing Students from Israel
This fellowship enables students from Israel who are ready to advance to candidacy for the Ph.D. on the U.C. Berkeley campus (or an Israeli university) to be supported in their dissertation year. A call for proposals for the Diller Family Dissertation Fellowship will be announced each fall and sent to relevant departments. Applications will be accepted from candidates in the humanities, social sciences and professional disciplines. Application materials are forthcoming.
